Libraries closed May 22 for Victoria Day

Centennial College, including the libraries at each campus and the askON chat service, will be closed on Monday, May 22 for the Victoria Day holiday.

Victoria Day is a Canadian public holiday that is observed on the Monday before May 25th each year.  It is the official birthday celebration of Canada's Sovereign (currently Queen Elizabeth II) since Canada is part of the Commonwealth.  In the early days of Canada, Queen Victoria was Canada's Sovereign and her birthday was on May 24th.  That is how the holiday got its name and date.

Unofficially, Victoria Day marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer in Canada.  Enjoy the first long weekend of summer 2017!
