Sharon is a graduate of the Master of Information program at the University of Toronto where her focus was library and information science with a collaborative specialization in book history and print culture. She is outgoing president of the Toronto Health Libraries Association and a senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals through the Medical Library Association. She has co-authored papers on embedding library services in distance education, continuing education, and clinical practice. She has also appeared as co-author on several systematic and scoping reviews.

Sharon has gained experience in academic librarianship through her various roles at the University of Guelph-Humber and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), a research and teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. She joined CAMH as a librarian in 2014. In her role, she provided in-depth research support, reference services, and instruction to CAMH staff, students, and the public. She was quickly promoted to Manager, Library & Archives in 2017. In her time as manager she led several key initiatives to increase the library’s profile as an integral part of the educational mandate of the organization. Under her leadership the library revisited the staffing model and schedules to improve morale and improve service to CAMH staff and students; partnered with medical education to provide research skills workshops for psychiatry residents; formalized curriculum support for CAMH Education’s continuing and community education courses; developed and piloted a collection of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and graphic novels on issues and experiences related to mental illness and addictions; and established a protocol for co-authorship for librarians involved in major literature reviews. Previous to CAMH, Sharon held liaison and elearning librarian positions at Guelph-Humber where she was responsible for collection development, instruction, and research support for students in Guelph-Humber’s Psychology, Kinesiology, and Electives programs.
