Computers & Equipment

Using Library computers

Each campus Library has many computers available for student use. Find A Computer shows how many of these computers are available now.  Sign on to these computers using your college username and password. You have access to the same programs that are available in all college labs.

If you need assistance with these computers, contact the IT Help Desk at 416-289-5280, or helpdesk@centennialcollege.ca. There is a phone in the Progress and Morningside labs with a direct line to the IT Help Desk.   At Ashtonbee and the Story Arts Centre, Library staff can help you contact the IT Help Desk.

Sometimes librarians use the computer labs at Ashtonbee, Morningside, and Progress for Library classes. The labs are closed for general use and a sign is posted on the lab door when the librarian is conducting a class.

Centennial College Alumni and registered Community Borrowers have access to designated quick-access computer kiosks only, provided they are not in demand by registered students.

Using a laptop computer

You can use your own laptop computer in the Library. The libraries are equipped with study carrels where you can plug in your laptop computer.  Each campus Library also has wireless access.

Registered students can also borrow a laptop computer from your campus Library for use on campus.

Printing in the Library

Printing from the Library computers:

Printing from these computers is the same as in other college computer labs.

You must have money on your myCard to print.  For more information and detailed instructions, visit Printing with myCard on the college website.

If you need assistance with the computer lab printers or if the printers are out of paper, call the IT Help Desk using the telephone in the computer lab.

Web printing:

Web printing is available if you wish to print documents using a laptop.  Just like printing from a College computer, you must use your myCard to use this wireless printing service.  Detailed instructions on how to use web printing are available in all computer labs or at http://www.centennialcollege.ca/mycentennial/help-desk/technology-services/printing/

Printing is available to registered students only.

3D Printing

Centennial Libraries in partnership with Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Services (ARIES) provides a 3D printing service at Progress Library.  Users must pay for the materials used to print their items. Please visit the 3D Printing Guide to submit a printing request.

Each campus Library has at least one black and white and colour photocopier for students to use. The Library photocopy machines can make double-sided copies.

Black and white Copies are 10 cents per page. Colour Copies are 20 cents per page.  You can use coins or access your print account to use the photocopiers at all campuses.

There are restrictions on the amount of material you can legally photocopy from a book, magazine, newspaper or journal. Read more about copyright information to find out what you are allowed to photocopy legally.

Ashtonbee Campus Library and the Story Arts Centre Library also have a black and white overhead transparency photocopier. Overhead transparencies are 40 cents each which includes the plastic transparency sheet.  Ask the Library staff for details.
