Videos & DVDs


Each campus library has a collection of videos in DVD and online streaming formats that support teaching and learning. Viewing stations are available in the library. 

For information about audio-visual presentation equipment to support closed-captioning, please contact your IT/AV Services desk.

Find Videos (DVD & VHS)

To find videos in DVD and VHS format, search the library catalogue. To find closed-captioned videos & DVDs do a keyword search for "closed captioned".
Video Catalogue for Titles Acquired Before 2004:  This catalogue is no longer updated. To search for recently acquired videos, search the library catalogue instead. 

Reserve Videos to Show in Class (DVD & VHS)

Instructors can reserve videos from the library collection to show in class. Students should contact their instructors to reserve videos on their behalf. 

Instructors can reserve videos:

Book in advance, since requests require a minimum of 2 days advance notice. Videos from another campus require additional delivery time. We will make every effort to fill same-day requests, but cannot guarantee to meet your requirements.

Video viewing stations (TV with DVD/VCR and headphones) are available in each campus library to preview the videos. To watch a video in the library, bring it to the Loan Desk and staff will remove the security casing. No reservations are necessary to watch videos in the library, and videos are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to DVD and VHS, the Library provides streaming video to support teaching and learning at Centennial. Access (both on-campus and off-campus) is limited to current Centennial students, faculty and staff who may view, show, post links and share content for non-commercial personal research and educational purposes. Recording, copying or free downloading is not allowed. See the Library Copyright Guide for full details regarding fair dealing and educational use.

    Streamed videos from the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Subjects covered include infection control, patient/family education, patient/staff safety, communication, conflict resolution, best practices, ethical dilemmas, risk management, research, and a variety of clinical topics. For students in the Operating Room Nursing course.

    Video streaming access to educational content from CBC and Radio-Canada, including documentaries from television and radio, news reports, archival material, and stock shots.

    Over 950 titles with over 8,500 segments

  • Automotive Technology (systems & repair, auto body, industry, shop safety, careers) Level 1 117 titles
    Building & Technical Trades (construction management, electrical wiring, welding, safety, estimates, measurements, etc.) 179 titles
    Engineering Technology (electricity & electronics, applied math, aerodynamics & aeronautics, materials, etc. 247 titles

    Browse by subject or search for titles or segments on your topic. Off-campus viewing requires logon with Library username and password. (Your Library Card)

    Create a personal account to create Favourites and Playlists. Use Playlist URLs in eCentennial (faculty), Word, and PowerPoint (faculty and students) to share content.

    To view library-licensed videos - full access - click on “Kanopy Video Titles Licensed by Centennial Libraries”, or search our library catalogue or Search Everything discovery tool (using Kanopy name or individual video titles).  Click on "Kanopy Website" to see descriptions of over 25,000 videos from 800 producers such as Criterion, PBS, BBC, Media Education Foundation, etc. Contact your campus librarian or ask your instructor to recommend new purchases or request trials.

    Access over 3,500 video tutorial courses led by experts on web design, software development, photography, business skills, home and small office, project management, 3D + Animation, graphic design audio, music, video editing and more.

  • McNabb Connolly Videos (streaming)

    Includes 42 videos (86 individual segments) sorted into 5 collections: BBC Productions, Bullfrog Films Releases, Canadian Productions, Productions Francais, and a custom college collection, Video Project Releases College. A wide range of subjects are covered including society, health, environment, politics, globalization, social networking, disabilities, ethics, science, and social services.  Closed-captioning for all titles expected by September 2014

Documentaries, animations, experimental films and fiction streamed free of charge (or downloaded for personal use for a small fee). To see only  CAMPUS programs (these are licensed for public performance / classroom viewing), click on the link above, then go to ONLINE STREAMING-> for subscribed Educators.  Non-CAMPUS and 'Canada Screens' programs are licensed for private viewing only. Canada Screens programs are available only on a pay-per-view basis. You can create links to ALL titles (see special linking instructions below for the CAMPUS category.)

  •  Daher Video Collection (VHS)

    Each campus library has a special collection of movies in VHS format that students and employees are welcome to borrow for a 7-day loan period. These collections of Hollywood and international feature films were donated to the library by former College employee Doug Daher in 2006. Titles include modern classics such as Apocalypse Now, cult favourites like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, blockbusters such as Titanic and many critically acclaimed dramas and comedies. The bulk of the collection dates from the mid-1990s to 2004. Take a break from your studies and enjoy some great films!
