Borrowing

Borrowers

Centennial College Students and Employees

All registered Centennial College students and employees can borrow library materials and access online resources using a valid Centennial ID or library card. Please note that these ID cards are non-transferable. Centennial College students and employees can also access online library resources off-campus by logging in with their myCentennial ID and password.

Alumni and Retirees

Alumni and retirees may borrow up to two print books excluding items on a short-term loan. Items can be placed on hold and may be renewed by logging in to your library account. Please contact us by phone or email to receive your initial password. You must provide valid alumni or library cards to borrow library material. To sign up for a library card, please bring a piece of valid photo ID with your name and current address to the Library Service Desk at any campus. Once we confirm your status we can issue your card immediately. Alumni and retirees are not able to access online library resources off campus. To request computer access on campus, alumni may contact alumni@centennialcollege.ca.

Other Ontario College

Other Ontario colleges’ students and employees participating in the College Libraries Ontario, Heads of Libraries and Learning Resources’ Ontario Colleges Direct Borrowing Agreement may borrow materials directly from Ontario Colleges. At Centennial College Libraries, you may borrow two print books excluding items on a short-term loan. You must provide a valid student photo ID card from your institution and a current timetable and complete an Inter-college Lending Student Application and Agreement before you can be registered and a library card is issued to you.

Holds and Campus Delivery

You may request material from another Centennial College campus Library for delivery by placing a Request. Instructions on how to place a Request are available on our FAQ page.

Mailed delivery of library books to you is now available.  Contact us to request mail delivery.

Returning Library Items

Library items can be returned to the library desk at each campus Library during hours of operation. Library books can also be returned to the book drop-boxes at the entrance of each campus Library on any day that the college buildings are open. Unable to come to campus? Contact us to discuss other return options.

Exceptions include equipment such as iPad & laptops:

iPads must be returned in person to the campus library from which they were originally borrowed. To avoid loss or damage, return iPads directly to library staff during open hours.

If you borrowed a Chromebook through the Device Loan Program, please email deviceloan@centennialcollege.ca to arrange for it to be returned or login to the I.T. Knowledge base for step-by-step instructions.

Fines and Fees

As a library user, you are responsible for all material that you borrow. Fines were put in place to encourage library users to return their items on time and ensure fair access for everyone.

If you return your items late or lose or damage your items, you may need to pay a fine or replacement cost. Fines will vary depending on the type of item borrowed. Refer to the Fines and Fees guidelines for more information.
